Finally Back

"Finally Back"...I think I have said that before. ;o) Strep Throat hit our household again. I managed to avoid getting it myself, just had a cold type of thing and feeling worn out. Enough about that though...on to more samples!

This is an Accordian File we made at the NCG event the end of July. I was so thankful to have my dear friend there walking me through each step in making this! The dear ladies at my table and I allowed Linda to be the leader and show us what did work and what didn't ;o) ....I cannot tell you how many times I asked "Score the cardstock where and where?" Linda was extremely patient and didn't get annoyed with us at all! There were a lot of folds to get the accordian part on the bottom and being precise was important. However, after making one I can see it is easier that I thought it would be. I am somewhat "direction challenged" so if I can do this, anyone can!

This is a card I made last week usng the stamp set Garden Whimsy for the Color Challenge on SCS. I have some other swaps to show, however I just need to get a better picture of them before I post. Have a good night!

Non Convention Goer event

This past weekend here in North Carolina some ladies from a demo group I belong to organized a Non Convention Goers (NCG) get together for Stampin' Up! demonstrators. SU has a national convention every year and this years convention was held in Denver, CO. Since I couldn't go, this was the perfect substitute for my budget! ;o)

I learned how to do some great new projects, had a great time stamping with old friends and new friends and simply enjoyed a Friday/Saturday paper crafting! For the next several days, I would like to share some of the projects we did, as well as showcase some of the beautiful swaps I received.

This was the most difficult project we did that I finally completed this morning! It is called the Surprise Friendship Box and I am amazed I finished it seeing I am "measurement" and somewhat "following directions" challenged ;o))
By no means is this thing perfect, but it is the perfect template for me to make again and you know how once you make something the next time it is easier...I can clearly see that it will be!

I also wanted to show two swaps I received from fellow demonstrator Pam Hicks. I am looking forward to CASEing both of these cards!
Tomorrow I will show another project we made and some more swaps!

This picture does not do this card justice....The butterfly has glitter on it and the designer paper is rolled with the matching wheel in Certainly Celery ink.

This card features the stamp set Priceless and the background En Francais. It uses the two new blue In Colors: Soft Sky and Bayou Blue. I made this card for an upcoming swap I have this weekend with a bunch of other demos in my state. It looks like there will be about 57 demonstrators coming together for a quarterly type of meeting. Quite a crowd and I should have a lot to share upon my return. I am looking forward to learning some new techniques and really just stamping and talking. ;o) At least maybe then I can keep this blog updated.

Another Garden Whimsy

Here is another Garden Whimsy card. I can't seem to tire of this stamp set. This card is such an easy layout and would be easy to do at a workshop or even to mass produce with different sentiments. I made some others just like this, switching up the colors and like the variety. Of course this layout would work with any stamp set, just try it. The background paper is Certainly Celery Prints Designer Paper from SU. The designer paper comes in a variety of colors and adds a nice accent to a card. I also used the background stamp En Francais. It is extremely similar to French Script, just current. A script background stamp can add so much to a card and I needed the new one to demo with...that is the *only* reason I bought it. For me it is an old stand by to fancy up a card. ;o)

I have some other cards to share and may get to posting a few others this weekend, we will see. The weekend always tends to get away from me.

Garden Whimsy

One of my favorite stamp sets in the new catalog is Garden Whimsy. I see a lot of possibilities with this stamp set and know it will be a favorite of many stampers and scrapbookers. For this card, I used the new In Colors Purely Pomegranate, Wild Wasabi, Blue Bayou and Soft Sky. I used the dots from Polka Dots and Paisley for the background and stamped it on the Soft Sky cardstock using Blue Bayou classic ink. The flowers have a shine to them because I outlined them with my Stardust pen. I really like the effect.

Garden Collage

This is a card I made using the stamp set from SAB Garden Collage. I love the images in this stamp set. I think it was from a Sell-A-Bration 3 or 4 years ago. I watercolored the image with reinkers to give it a more vibrant color. Sometimes the water color crayons are more subdued.
I have placed my first order from the new catalog and have new stamps coming sometime next week. I tried to limit myself on new stamp sets so I only ordered three: Garden Whimsy, Just Like You and the background stamp En Francais (similar to French Script).

Sassy Stems

I am still looking through the catalog trying to figure out my first order and trying to stay within a certain amount of money. It is more difficult than I thought (I just need to figure out the immediate *must have's*.....but I have got to tell you I am wanting more this year than last!) I was talking with another SU demonstrator this weekend and we poured over page after page of the catalog via phone (my poor husband thinks we are crazy and need help!).....Back to the catalog, we both think this is the nicest layout Stampin' Up! has ever had for a catalog. The samples are very nice and really show the versatility of stamping. It is not just for cards and scrapbooking!

On a separate note, I did hear than someone was asking over the weekend "Where are the NASCAR themed stamps?"....Somehow that genre is getting overlooked. But "M.D." you can always email SU and ask them....nothing is better than a *customer* who enjoys stamping to make a recommendation! (sorry, couldn't resist...)

This is a card I made using one of the color challenges. I will miss Cool Caribbean when I run out...I wasn't able to order more of last year's In Color cardstock because they ran out ;o( Oh-well...I have enough for a while! The new In Color Sky Blue is similar but not quite the same...maybe one day SU will bring back the all time favorites!

Fall~Winter Catalog

The new Fall~Winter Stampin' Up! catalog arrived yesterday...there are so many wonderful things! I have probably only gone through it about 5 times and need to start making my wishlist. I am excited about purchasing various things out of it throughout the next six months. (I say six months because SU will have ANOTHER new catalog in January since they are going to 2 catalogs a year)
There are some really pretty stamp sets with a wide variety of styles so there is really something for everyone. ;o) I know my customers will be very excited about what is available and the price increase wasn't too much at all. There are quite a few of the mini catalog sets that made it into this catalog...but Like it a Latte and Love Matters isn't in this one so hopefully they will make it into the next catalog. They are some favorites!

The above is a card I made for another swap I am in. I decided to use the new stamp set Zoofari and basically make a pink panther. It uses the SU colors Tempting Turquoise, Basic Black and the new In Color Purely Pomegranate. Have a great day!

Wednesday, June 27, 2007

It has been a full week and I haven't stamped very much at all. I think this afternoon I may stamp while I wait for my brand new 2007-2008 Stampin' Up! catalogs to be delivered! It will be exciting to see all of the new stamps, accessories, etc. The above card is one I did a few weeks ago for a color challenge on SCS. Ruby Red, Certainly Celery and Elegant Eggplant are not colors I would ordinarily put together, but it does work! I got the little chickadee stamp for a the best stamp store called the Enchanted Cottage outside of Winston-Salem, NC. Look it up on the web, I know you won't be disappointed.
Have a great day!

Year After Year

I made this card for an upcoming swap I am participating in. It uses the new In Color Groovy Guava. I really didn't think I would like this color very much, but I do! I goes well with Bashful Blue and Barely Banana. I made the scalloped edge using a corner rounder punch (simply take the guard off and start in the center of the strip of paper in order to have your scallops fairly even on both ends).

I recently needed to make a sympathy card and wanted to use the stamp set Baroque Motifs. (I was just telling a friend that this is becoming my favorite stamp set...It find it very versatile) I stamped the flourish in Always Artichoke Craft Ink and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder. It really adds nice dimension.

Probably won't be stamping much until tomorrow night...I have a workshop coming up that I really need to prepare for and time is quickly going by! Yikes ;o))

Saturday, June 16, 2007

This is one of the cards I made for a swap I am in...thankfully I got all three designs made and will mail them off on Monday. I signed up for three spots and I may have been a little over zealous... Either way, they are completed and I am looking forward to seeing all of the neat samples from everyone. This is a fun set to use and it will be wonderful for making party invitations.

Baroque Motifs

Baroque Motifs is new stamp set that will be available starting in July from Stampin' Up! and it has so many possibilities to make wonderful cards! It is a very easy stamp set to use, no coloring required. I know some people that shy away from the actual coloring techniques and prefer to basically stamp and go ...and this set it perfect for that. This card uses the new In Color cardstock which is called River Rock. I used Old Olive for the base of the card and added the Brocade Background paper. I am thinking this stamp set, the designer paper and a couple of colors of coordinating cardstock (like Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and Very Vanilla) and stamp pads of the same color and you could make a pile of cards!

For this card I used the new In Colors Wild Wasabi and Purely Pomegranate.
Hopefully tomorrow I will get a chance to use the Zoofari stamp set and will share some samples....until then, Happy Stampin'!

Finally Back

Well, it turned out I was sicker than I thought....I ended up having to go to the doctor on Saturday and he said I had both strep throat and a sinus infection. (I guess it is more convenient to get them at the same time....not recommended though!) Absolutely no fun and I had a whole box of new SU products to try and absolutely *zero* energy to do so. Shocking, I know. :o) Well, I am feeling so much better now and have finally started stamping again! I love the new set Baroque Motif. I made this card for the color challenge on SCS today. Well, I am off to make some more cards with my new stamps!

New Stampin' Up! products!!!

Sorry it has been quiet around here... I have been sick with a nasty cold. I feel better than yesterday, still froggy sounding, but getting better.

On to better news....

As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator we get the amazing opportunity to preorder stamp sets, cardstock, ink, and other accessories. It was so hard to narrow things down, but this is what I chose. Stamp sets: Baroque Motifs, Holidays and Wishes, Zoofari, Hugs and Wishes and Year After Year. I also ordered the new colors: Wild Wasabi, River Rock, Groovy Guava and Purely Pomegranate. I am looking forward to stamping tomorrow, my house is clean and I can "stamp" part of "the day away"!

Tuesday, June 5, 2007

This is a card I did for the Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS this past Sunday. I used Daisy D's Paisley Bloom scrapbook paper for the background and it really looks like fabric. I used Rose Red as the card base. The flower I later did with Dimensional Glaze and it really gave it a nice shiny look. (I did that after I took the picture).

I ordered my preview items from Stampin' Up! last Friday and they are due to arrive on this Friday. ;o)) New stamp sets, cardstock and inks! I have quite a few swaps to get done so I will be busy stamping when I can this weekend.

Friday, June 1, 2007

Here is a card I made for the Sketch Challenge on Wednesday. I chose the colors based on the strip of Basic Grey scrapbook paper that I wanted to use. I really like these colors together and will definitely use this color combination again.

The last few days have been quite busy and I haven't gotten much stamping done. In fact, I really need to simply clean my stamp area because it is in chaos right now ;o))

Petal Prints

I outlined the petal using the glue pad and the Martha Stewart glitter. It gives a very nice effect. I can see myself using a lot of this at Christmas! I have stamped a few things I will share tomorrow. The challenges on SCS have been a lot of fun and so far this week I have managed to do them all. I have a few things to get done this afternoon so I have to run....Have a great day!

Tsukineko Glue Pad

Here is a card (or two) I made using the new Glue Pad I was talking about yesterday. On the first one, I used the elephant from the Stampin' Up! set Wild About You. You simply stamp it into the glue pad, then onto the paper and add the glitter. Easy, Peasy! I used the Turquoise from Martha Stewart and it set beautifully! I am really amazed....I will be investing in a lot more glitter! ;o) The glue pad is so easy to use and it is very easy to clean the stamp afterwards.

Here is another one using the glue pad....I can't help it and I am hooked and will be using this pad a lot. It is an instant wow and so much simpler than heat and stick powder. On this card, I used the stamp set All About U, the U is perfect for the full coverage of the glitter.

Now I want to try using this glue pad with an outline stamp...maybe tomorrow I will post what that would look like.
Have a great day!

Little Lobster

I have had the best time with these stamps from Gina K. They are so stinkin' cute! This one I tried to get away from the standard red. For the lobster, I colored him with reinkers and add red stickles to him. He just sparkles! I added some wiggly eyes and am quite pleased with how he turned out.

I got together with a friend to stamp today and used the new Glue Pad by Tsukineko everyone is raving about on SCS. I have had it for over a month (got it at a Stamp Expo for $6.50) and just now got to using it. Oh, my goodness!!!! It is the best EVER! I will post tomorrow a card I made using it and it is truly amazing, no more heat and stick powder! Oh, so easy and talk about great coverage.....I used it with some of the beautiful glitter Martha Stewart is selling at Michael's. The glitter she sells is a great deal. I believe it is $4.99 and it is 1.5 oz. I will definitely be picking up some more colors!

Just Beclaws

Yesterday I received some stamps I ordered from ... Gina K. has some wonderful new stamps for sale and these were just calling my name. ("Buy me, Buy me, Buy me!") I have another one I will show tomorrow. I do believe I am going to place another order for a few more, she has some really cute sayings I am wanting to add to my collection! ;o) The quality of the rubber stamps is wonderful and the images are just adorable.
I highly recommend her online store, you won't be disappointed!

I'm back...

This has really been a busy week! I cannot believe it has been a week since my last blog post. I was able to take some time to do the Featured Stamper challenge on SCS on Sunday. This week's artist was Kyla Maestas, (aka Vitality)...she has a great gallery! I love the things she has done with the Double Line Doodles set and wanted to try some of her card desgins myself. I changed up the color but other than that it is almost exactly like hers.

I really haven't had much time to stamp since I made this card on Sunday. I did clean my stamp table some Monday, so I think that counts ;o) I hope to get some more stamping in maybe tomorrow night....

Need New Clothes!

I made a card similar to this for a friend who just recently found out she was expecting. I was in AC Moore shopping on Monday and I realized I now had a "reason" to buy the stamp. How is that for excuses to buy stamps? I thought this image and saying was just too cute to pass up.

Tuesday, May 15, 2007

This is another card I made over the weekend with the stamp set Toile Blossoms. I used the same colors as a previous one, just changed the design up a bit. On this one, I was able to find a place for the round tab punch. It is the coolest punch, but sometimes I have a hard time finding the right place for it.

I have another card I am excited to share...a friend is expecting a little bundle of joy and I picked up the cutest little stamp at AC Moore today. (Nothing like a good excuse to buy ANOTHER stamp!) I am having problems taking the picture and keeping it from being blurry so I will try tomorrow in the daylight.

This afternoon I went to three craft stores..Michaels, AC Moore and JoAnne's. At Michael's, I got to see Martha Stewart's new paper crafting line..she has some nice stuff, but a tad pricey when you can't use a coupon. ;o( However, I did get some ribbon and at some point will get some of her punches. They look nice! I love that they stand on one end. That is smart!

Poor Little Mouse

I am trying to use some of the designer paper I have laying around, it is amazing how that stuff collects! There was also a Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS today which is where I got this layout. (This week it is Candy Williams and she has a great gallery on SCS!)

I used this mouse stamp from Inkadinkadoo. The pen wouldn't quite fit in the scalloped oval punch so I added part of it separately and just had to use stickles to sparkle it up a bit. ;o) I colored the image with SU reinkers and my Aqua Painter brush. The designer paper is DCWV Retro Prints. The mouse is writing "Get Well" on the cast...too cute!

Toile Blossoms

I made this card this afternoon after seeing a sketch Beate had on her blog. I cannot believe how many background stamps I ended up using: Print Pattern, Linen, Canvas and French Script. The focal image is from the stamp set Toile Blossoms which retired a year or two ago. Great set though...has lots of possibilities!

If you want to check out Beate's blog it is:

Find Joy

This card uses the stamp sets Polka Dots & Paisley as well as Polka Dots & Petals from the SU spring mini catalog. I used the Designer paper that matches the set to add more color to the card without overdoing it. The framing for the center image is simply using the Round Tab Punch. I paper pierced the edges of the Old Olive CS, but it doesn't quite show up well in this picture. I was inspired by this card from various ones I have seen on SCS and blogs.

It is hard to believe another week has gone by...I am hoping get some stamping time in this weekend, if so, I will post what I get accomplished.

Hip Hip Hooray

Hip Hip Hooray is another stamp set that will retire the end of June. Sad, but true... This is for another challenge on SCS and this time I combined both the Color Challenge and the Sketch Challenge. I used the Mat Pack to pierce little holes in the corners of the square pieces and on the Print Pattern Background, I faux stitched with the White Gel Pen.

I noticed on the website that the stamp I used yesterday (from the set Woodland Animals) was no longer listed. Not to worry if you were wanting it because the owner told me they had sold out of that stamp set, but more are on the way!

New Stamps!

I received some stamps I ordered yesterday...How is that for fast service? They are from a stamp company called Rubber Stamping Fun. There website is and I and some others have been selected to review some upcoming new stamp sets! It is super exciting and I am thrilled to be included. When I was selected, I decided to make a quick order because there was a stamp (the bear) I knew I wanted to use for a Father's Day card. (My husband is an avid hiker and has actually seen black bears when he has hiked. You don't often see them, so on the rare occasions that you do, it is very thrilling!) I know SU has a bear stamp very similar, but I didn't want the rest of the stamps in the set so this was perfect for me!

I used the SU background stamp Flannel Plaid and the scenic stamp is from a stamp company called Blue Ridge Impressions which is located in McGaheysville, VA. They don't have anything available online, just a small store in Virginia and a catalog.

Lucky Duck

Today I took part in the Color Challenge on SCS. It was combining the colors: Taken with Teal, Cool Caribbean and Marigold Morning. I had this cute little duck stamp sitting around and thought he work perfectly, I used my Water Color Crayons to color him in. The background is made by using the Paisley stamp from Polka Dots and Paisley and the Canvas BG stamp. I have just recently started liking the Cool Caribbean color and wouldn't you know it, right near the end of its availability! Oh-well! I will stock up a bit before the end of June.

Monday Mailer

I take part in a group that swap cards on the first Monday of every week. This months theme is making "Man Cards."
For this card, I used the Flannel Plaid background stamp from SU (which is perfect for making masculine cards) and I combined it with the Lovely as a Tree stamp set (which is NOT retiring, thank goodness). I water colored the tree using reinkers. I love these colors together and sadly the True Thyme cardstock and ink will not longer be available after June contact your demonstrator if you like it and want to stock up. I know I will be! ;o)

Donut Bliss

This is a card I made this afternoon for the Limited Supply Challenge. The theme this week was using food related stamps. I had the hardest time not using a punch, I use some kind of a punch with almost every card I make ;o)
This House Mouse stamp is called Donut Bliss and is so adorable. I used my Water Color Crayons to color the image...I think I will be keeping my eyes out for some more of these stamps!
Have a good weekend!

Double Line Doodles

Double Line Doodles was the free stamp set we got at the Stampin' Up! Regional event in Virginia Beach. I have finally gotten around to using it. I like it, but it is the standard style of set I am naturally drawn to, but it does have a lot of possibilities. This card turned out okay. I used a similar layout to what we did at Regional, just changed it up a bit. I paper pieced the bird into place, I just could not imagine cutting around the birds legs...too much work ;o) This will be a great set around Valentine's Day, especially if the set Love Matter makes it into the new catalog. They would work well together.

Like it a Latte

Today's challenge on SCS was a sketch challenge. This uses the Like it a Latte is a stamp set from this past Winter Mini Catalog as well as the Cuttlebug that I bought back in January. I thought the swirl embossing folder goes well with the swirls from the steam. We will see on July 1st if this set makes it into the new catalog. With the other coffee set retiring, I would think it now has more of a chance and I know it was very popular when it was available. It sure gets my vote, if my vote counted ;o))

SU Retirement List

Well, the Stampin' Up! Retirement list came out this morning...I have 24 sets that are retiring (not counting hostess sets). By no means do I have as many stamp sets retiring as some demonstrators I know....I still have plenty to use for workshops. However, some of those retiring are absolute favorites such as the ones used in this card. I can say for sure that I will not be trading or selling either Petal Prints nor the French Script background.

I am excited about the new catalog and obviously a whole bunch of new stamp I am not too sad. ;o)

Have a good day and thanks for checking in...

Almost May 1st!

Any idea what tomorrow is??? It is May 1st, which means the Stampin' Up! Retirement list comes out. A new catalog comes out July 1st and SU retires quite a number of stamp sets each May in order to make room for more stamp sets.
I am excited to see new stamp sets and accessories.....Not that I don't have enough, but you know what I mean ;o)

Yesterday I did another challenge on SCS. This week the challenge was taking a card made by Cindy_Haffner and CASE'ing it by changing two elements from the card. Here is my attempt...Cindy's cards are beautiful and if you follow the link to my SCS Gallery there is a link under this card to her original card.
Have a great day!

Friday, April 27, 2007

The challenge on SCS today was "Make it Masculine" LSC113. I probably have a harder time making a card for a man than anything else.

The phrase on this card is a Inkadinkadoo stamp (I found it on clearance at Hobby Lobby) and the little boy fishing is a stamp I got back in 2002, I think. I remember seeing it in a magazine and knew I had to find it and thankfully I did shortly afterwards. I used SU cardstock: Always Artichoke and Chocolate Chip and with the mat pack made the holes along the edge for a nice framing touch.

Beauty to Cherish

On SCS they have various challenges that will help with creativity in card making. This is from the Sketch Challenge that was posted yesterday. I had various pieces laying around and put this together rather quickly. It uses the Cuttlebug Divine Swirl Embossing plate as the background. I really like how this one turned out and did another card this afternoon that I will try to post this evening.

If you don't have the Cuttlebug....I highly recommend it. It adds a nice touch to cards!
(Note to my mom, just use mine ;o))

Stampin Up Regional

Last Saturday I went to the Stampin' Up! Regional in Virginia Beach. I met my wonderful friend Linda there and we had a blast! This was my first Regional that was close enough for me to attend....Linda, who is the sweetest downline ever (she hooked me up with the scallop punches before they became the HUGE rave and is just such a blessing to me) and I jumped at the opportunity and we were not disappointed. We each made a ton of swaps and had the best time swapping. I had swapped all of mine in about 40 minutes....I made 100 and was shocked they got traded so fast. It was kind of a bummer because I loved swapping!!!! (I know for next time!!!)
By the way, I got some amazing swaps! I am so thrilled with them all and know my customers will be as well.

I learned a lot from the Regional event and am still trying to assimilate it all.

Be patient with me as I try to figure out all of the things I need on this blog....things like feedblitz or feedburner and some counter thing-a-ma-jig. I pretty much teach myself the computer stuff and try to do it at night when I have more time.

Have a great day and stamp something!

Mother's Day card

I have been messing around trying figure out a Mother's Day card for an upcoming workshop and after much trial and error, I finally made the one that pops. ;o) That is just kind of the way I work...I try to keep at it until I am pleased. Sometimes I am my own worst critic and way too picky... Tomorrow I will try to post a few pictures from the Virginia Beach Regional. It was so much fun and I was able to go with a good friend who signed up under me. It was a great two days and I really hope SU will bring another Regional event to Virginia!
