Sketch Girls #2
Well, it is the 30th and that means it is time to share another card made with a Sketch Girls sketch. I have got to say this was a fun one to put together and I enjoyed using my new postage style stamps/template from Just for Fun Rubber Stamps. Be sure and read the bottom of this post for some info. on how to win some free stamps!!!
I used the sea horse image from the Eclectic Summer Stamp TV Kit which I paired with So Saffron, Handsome Hunter cardstock and some dp from the Lime Rickey Basic Grey line. Did you know new Basic Grey designer paper is being released soon for fall? I saw it in the new PaperCrafts magazine and I am so excited :o) Honestly, I think Basic Grey is my favorite dp!!! The bottom of the card needed a little something so I wrapped/tied around some green tulle I have in my tulle stash. This stuff is cheap and adds nice texture to a card and the netting is very nautical looking. The rest of the sketch girls have some fabulous projects to share so if you get a chance, check out all of their eye candy: Leigh Ann, Alyssa, Harriet, Chris, Eve, Sara, Bonnie, Jessica, Julie, Katie, Randee and Tiffany.
Sketch Girls is having a giveaway this week so be sure and stop by and get all of the details to see how you can win a free stamp set (and doesn't everyone need more stamps!!!) :o))) There will be three lucky winners and those odds are GOOD! Have a great day!

New style for me...
I had a great time this past weekend at the Stamp&Scrap Art Tour in Winston-Salem, NC. Some dear friends from Virginia drove down and a group of us went to the stamp show on Saturday morning. Linda and I got to meet Olga from Stamp TV and that was quite a delight. :o) Olga even had a friend take a picture of us (and with her permission to snatch it) I have posted it below (thanks Olga!!!). I have been to a few stamp shows over the years and I have got to say that this one was the BEST!!!!
I saw these (new to me) postage style of stamps that I just went ga-ga for and loaded up on quite a few and I already see I need more!!! The company is Just for Fun Rubber Stamps and they have some beautiful images as well as templates to create this unique look. For my card I used Gina K's stamped set Tropical Blossoms and used a sponge dauber for my green background. I am tickled with how it turned out and have another one to share tomorrow...that is the one with the fun sketch :o)
Just a quick note that there are some great blog candy giveaways: Linda has some as well as Priscilla Styles at Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge so be sure and check them out and get your name in :o)

Scrapbook Challenge
The scrapbook challenge on Stamp TV this past week was to create a summer page. I haven't been to the beach yet this summer, so thought I would use Melanie's stamp sets: Just So Sporty and Sporty Accessories to create another page for my oldest son's baseball scrapbook.
This time I scored every 1/2" of the 8 1/2" wide piece of the So Saffron cardstock. I took the baseball bat image and stamped it vertically between the scored lines, followed by some sponging with So Saffron ink. I wanted to stagger the pictures to show the sequence of events in his "at bat" (though in the first one he was swinging too early and sadly I missed the actual hit...digital cameras are nice but sometimes it is tricky figuring out the slight delay). Either way, I loved the slide! :o) We are big baseball fans... Any Red Sox fans out there???
Here is a close up of the actual scoring I did...
I have one more thing to share today...a sneak peek of my card for the Sketch Girls Challenge this coming Thursday.... Believe me, it is a great sketch!!! I even used a new stamp I bought at the recent Stamp&Scrap Art Tour in Winston-Salem...

Christmas 8x8 page
I made this 8x8 scrapbook page using the stamp set Family Blessings from Creative Vision. I wanted to scrap a picture of my kids making cookies at Grandma's house several years ago. I picked up this paper a few weeks ago at a fun little scrapbook store in Brevard, NC (it was 50% off which is always a nice deal!) The sentiment "Remember this Moment" was the perfect title! Grandma is so laid back and doesn't mind all of the sprinkles getting everywhere. :o) The journal stamp that is included in the set is so versatile. It is the perfect size and accents a page beautifully! If you haven't checked out this stamp set: Family Blessings, ...it is on sale and would be a wonderful set to add for both card making and scrapbooking!
Have a great day!

Limelight Sketch Challenge #26
There is another great sketch this weekend over at Limelight Papercrafts and I had the perfect stamp to use....this new sentiment single from Creative Vision called Motherhood. I just love this phrase and was so glad that Laura sent it to me in my package of stamps for August...Oh, that's right, it's not August yet, but I just couldn't resist. :o)
I hope you have a great Saturday! I am off to a Stamp&Scrap Art show in Winston-Salem with dear friends and we are even going to the Enchanted Cottage...talk about a dreamy stamping/scrapbooking store!!! Oh, my that place can do some damage to the wallet :o)

Big Brother Scrapbook page
Today I have a scrapbook page to share that I made for a challenge over on Stamp TV. I used various baseball images from Melanie's stamp sets: Just So Sporty and Sporty Accessories along the borders. Remember the background I created for the Brown Butterfly card a couple of posts ago...I used that technique for the first time on this scrapbook page. I just love the texture it gives to the background and I sponged over it with So Saffron ink to really make it pop! I love these pictures from my son's All Star games...I took these after his last game and love watching my youngest looking up to his older brother. It is just so precious...Jeb will follow Dean anywhere!!!
I have a couple of things to share today...a dear stamping friend of mine, Linda is having some great blog candy on her blog so be sure and stop by and say hello and get in on this fun deal! Knowing Linda it will be well worth getting your name in the drawing :o) She is one talented stamper and has only had a blog going since June and she is already at 1,000 hits. (Go~Linda!!!)
The really exciting thing for me is she and some friends are driving down to visit and we will be going to the Stamp & Scrap Art show in Winston-Salem, NC as well as The Enchanted Cottage!!! I am so excited I can hardly stand it!!! :o)
The last little thing I have to share is.......we have a new puppy!!!
He is just adorable and as of now unnamed... Originally we thought we would call him Copper, but now we are not so sure. My kids are thinking that Jasper would be a good name...

3-D Project
Here is my project for the 3-D challenge and I am quite tickled with how it turned out. My husband is an avid hiker and just loves the outdoors so I wanted to alter this wall hanging/hook for his office. I found this item at Hobby Lobby in the clearance section for $1 quite some time ago knowing one day if would come in handy. :o) Happy Camper by Theresa Momber has some of the best outdoor images to create a mountain scene. I think the tent image is my favorite, it is just so realistic! I cut a piece of Vanilla cardstock and stamped the scene, colored it with Copics and sponged it heavily with Bashful Blue, Not Quite Navy, Certainly Celery and Old Olive.
I hope you have a wonderful day!

STV: Color Challenge
I made this for the color challenge on Stamp TV this week. The challenge was to use any green, brown and white or vanilla and I think I have found a new favorite color combination: Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Kiss and Whisper White. Ooo, la la....it is so pretty together :o) I used the stamp set Take Flight which I just can't seem to put the down for long.... The background green panel was created using the Scor-Pal and Scor-Bug tool. I did it on a scrapbook page over the weekend and had to try it again...after it was scored with the bug I sponged it with Wild Wasabi to make it pop!
Have a great day!!!

Kisses and Hugs
This is a quick card I put together using the stamp set True Love by Creative Vision. I wanted to match up the designer paper with the inks so used Regal Rose and Pretty in Pink ink as well as Regal Rose cardstock for the base. I'm not exactly sure what the designer paper is...it was from my Secret Sister and it has great texture to it. I punched along the bottom of the dp with a Fiskars border punch.
My little one is starting to get back on track...after two long naps yesterday he is about caught up on his sleep :o) Have a great day!!

Wishing You...
Last week I was out of town and way too busy to get any stamping done so thought I would share something I made a couple of weeks ago.
Something I wanted to try with the Many Wishes stamp set was to use glitter and a Glue Pad for the dandelions. I had forgotten how the glue pad really dries up when not in use, so had to really soak it with the refill to get it nice and juicy again. I used Vivid Brick ink for the stems and wanted to keep the colors to Rocket Red, Soft Sand and Luxury White. Anyone know where I can find some more ribbon like this? It came in my StampTV kit and I am sadly running out. I love the width of it and desperately want to find some more.
My youngest has a 15 mo. check up today and after being out of town last week, I am determined to get him back on a normal schedule. It makes for a much happier toddler and toddler mama, if you know what I mean! :o)
Have a great day!

Sketch Girls Challenge #1
Leigh Ann has combined a group of girls called Sketch Girls and twice a month we will share cards made with our interpretation of the sketch. She has formed her own sketch blog HERE and will be keeping a list of the sketches we do each month. If you are like me and need a starting point with creating a card, this is your go~to place! Here is the card I came up with:
With this sketch I saw another fun way to use some more Basic Grey Lemonade designer paper, you aren't tired of it right? I used the stamp set Elegant Flowers and colored right on the stamp with markers and Stampin' Spots. Be sure and check out the other Sketch Girls and see even more creative eye candy... Leigh Ann, Eve, Harriet, Alyssa and Sara.
Have a great day!

Purse-onally...
I saw a card very similar to this one in a magazine using Retro Boutique (it was created by Carolyn King using blue...Scrap & Stamp Magazine I believe) and wanted to CASE it using different colors and doing the bottom corners with the tag corner punch. I used some retired SU designer paper and paper pieced the purses. I am tickled with how it turned out. I love red and black together, it really makes for a dramatic card.
Hope you have a great rest of your day!

Limelight Sketch Challenge #25
I made this card using the newly released Basic Grey Lemonade designer paper for this weeks Limelight Papercrafts Sketch and Product Challenge this week. This week the focus is on buttons (which is something I just adore!) I just had to combine the sketch with the butterfly from Take Flight for the circle focal image. For the buttons, I used the Basic Grey buttons that match the Lemonade dp and am tickled with how perfectly they match up. Just a fun card to put together :o)
Have a great weekend!!

CAS: Hooked on Fishing
Here is a quick little card I made using the bobbers from the Hooked on Fishing stamp set. I alternated the two bobbers in red and blue to create a background design on Kraft cardstock. I layered that onto a red card base and added the sentiment with a little bit of ribbon folded over. I think this would qualify as CAS ;o) Have a wonderful rest of your day!!

Hey, Cupcake!
I got the general design for this card from a card I saw in Scrapbooks, etc. It was an advertisement from doodlebug design, Inc. and I wanted to try it using the new Basic Grey designer paper Lemonade. I am love this new paper and think it goes so nicely with Barely Banana. I used the stamp set Sweetest Blessings and paper pieced the cupcake onto a punched white circle that I sponged lightly with Pretty in Pink. A nice simple card I think would qualify as CAS!

Hooked on Fishing
Hooked on Fishing is a great outdoor stamp set that is perfect for both cards and scrapbooks. My children enjoy fishing and I foresee quite a few pages using this set. I found this photo from many years ago when we lived up in Virginia and am amazed with how much my middle son has grown since 2004. It seems like just yesterday....
I used the tackle box stamp and created a bit of a design along the bottom of River Rock cardstock using Vivid Coffee Bean ink. With it being clear, there are no mess ups or worries with not getting it straight (which for me a huge plus!) I used the little worm stamp as well as the wording "On the Lake" and finished it off with a bit of Tulle tied around. It gives the impression of netting.
There is something HUGE coming to Creative Vision this week. I have seen what is coming and am so excited for the release! :o) I don't want to say too much.....hee-hee! But you can catch a sneak peek Laura has posted HERE. :o)

Happiness
There was a great sketch challenge this week over on StampTV which had the main image panel on an angle, which for me is challenging because I tend to keep things pretty much aligned. I recently ordered some of the new Basic Grey June Bug designer paper from Limelight Papercrafts and it arrived just in time to use it on this card. I am not a typical bold and bright kinda girl, but this paper pack just drew me in and jumped right into my cart (along with the Lemonade dp and a few other fun goodies!) :o) I used the stamp set Many Wishes for both the dandelion and sentiment. I am just so pleased with how this came together and love the In the Navy cardstock with Regal Rose! Thanks for stopping by and hope you have wonderful day!

Crayon Resist Butterfly
I haven't made a card with the Crayon Resist Technique in a while so when I saw that was the challenge for this week on StampTV, I knew I had to try it again. I am a huge fan of easy techniques, especially not knowing exactly how long I have to create (due to my little one's nap) and this was perfect! In fact, I created two cards during his nap time and will share the other one another time.
I used one of the butterflies from Take Flight as well as some sprigs from Tropical Flowers. I found some retired Basic Grey paper that I knew would match up fairly nicely with the retired SU colors Soft Sky and Blue Bayou so was thankful to find it. I have noticed I don't have a lot of blue designer paper...how can that be? I will have to remedy that soon! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

True Love
I was tickled when I opened up my package of stamps from Creative Vision and saw three new sets I would have picked out myself. True Love is one of those fun stamp sets I received that I will use to create lovey dovey cards for my husband. I used Basic Black, Real Red and Whisper White to create this card. The sentiment was stamped with Memento Black and I used Vivid Brick for the rest of the card. I will confess to a slight smudge of ink... so covered it with a heart brad. Honestly, sometimes you just have to improvise!
Have a great day!
