Garden Silhouettes

Garden Silhouettes is a favorite stamp set that retired last year and has some beautiful images. This card is for a sketch challenge on Beate's blog (Fresh and Fun). She has sketch challenges that she posts on her blog every Friday and when I can, I enjoy trying them. Obviously, this is the first one I have done in a long time. ;o)

I like various shades of blue and brown together and with this card also used a new Cuttlebug folder (Swiss Dots) that came in the mail today. I got mine from Allthatscraps.com (they had plenty last week). Sorry the photo isn't as clear as I would have liked..the sentiment "thank you" is a bit blurry.

Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Bashful Blue, Very Vanilla and Infuse (DP) from Basic Grey
Ink: Bashful Blue and Old Olive
Accessories: Oval Punches, brads, Bashful Blue Striped Grosgrain and Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder

Hiking with Dad card

This is the Father's Day card I made using Gina K. Designs stamp "Hiking with Dad." I saw it online when she released her new stamps almost a month ago and knew I "needed" to add it to my collection because my husband loves to hike. I will use it with scrapbooking too, so it will get used for more than just for a Father's Day card...(how is that for justification?)

I used the retired Holiday Thyme Designer paper, True Thyme, Basic Black and Natural Ivory SU cardstock as well as the True Thyme ribbon. The corners of each layer of cardstock were punched with the tag punch. I am pleased and looking forward to giving it to my husband on Sunday.

Garden Whimsy

I love these "springy" colors together. I bought the Photo Corner Punch months ago and have had the hardest time figuring out the best way to use it on a card. I see other people's cards and it looks perfect, but on mine I struggle with it. This one turned out all right, it definitely needed the brads in it to make it look right.
I am trying to make a card a day, but this one took 3 days... ;o) Oh-well...now I need to figure out a couple of cards for Father's Day. I recently ordered a Gina K. Designs stamp to use for my children's card so hopefully I will get that made today or tomorrow and will share it here. Have a great day!

Artfully Asian

It is always nice to have an assortment of cards available should the need arise.
I saw a version of this card on Stamper's Showcase on SU a couple of weeks ago and loved the layout and color scheme. It is easy to change the sentiment and use the same layout and be able to make lots of cards. I have several birthday, thank you, get well wishes and others to have on hand, so hopefully I won't be caught unprepared.

Back to stamping.....and blogging

Well it has obviously been a while since I have blogged. The Lord blessed our family with a third child in March and I have been enjoying every minute of having a newborn. He brings so much joy to our family.

Stamping is coming slowly... I have lots of ideas just not getting to the stamping table to do so. :o)

Here is something I made last week which combined the sketch/color challenge from SCS.
It was nice and easy and for once I didn't use designer paper, but actual background stamps!

Whimsical Flower

This is a card I made using the Flowers for You designer paper from Stampin' Up! I thought it would go well with this stamp I purchased over the weekend. The big stamp of the flower with butterflies around it is from the stamp company Great Impressions. The Friend sentiment is from a set of clear stamps by R. S. Tapestry. I had no idea they were making clear stamps! I really like the font.. I ended up drawing the lines on the edges to kind of frame the card a bit with a black marker...kind of ties it together with all of the lines from the butterflies flying around the flower.

Embrace Life

I cased this card a while ago and cannot recall the original designer (if you know, please let me know so I can give her credit), but I just loved it and had to make one myself. I really liked the simple layout and the bleaching on the big flower from Embrace Life. The only thing I changed was that I added embossing on the sentiment. I stamped it with Always Artichoke Craft Ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. It really made it pop a little extra and is super easy to put together. I can see making a nice stack of these in a short amount of time.

Lots of Thoughts

This is a card I made for both the Color Challenge and the Sketch Challenge on SCS for this week. The colors which are quite a stretch for me are Orchid Opulence, Pumkin Pie and Certainly Celery. The Pumkin Pie was/is really throwing me for a loop. Not quite sure I like it still and if I made this card again I would replace it with a muted yellow (just my opinion). This card also uses the stamp sets Garden Whimsy (a spring/summer card making favorite) and the current SAB set Lots of Thoughts. I used the stamp Happy Hellos from it and omitted the other little sayings beneath is so that it would fit in the circle punch. The background on the Certainly Celery is the jumbo wheel Whimsy.

Friendship Blooms

This is a quick card I made using the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Friendship Blooms. I really like the colors Wild Wasabi, Regal Rose and Pretty in Pink together. I chose the colors based on the piece of scrapbook paper I had in my scrap box that I had picked up at Michael's some time ago. It is certainly an easy card to put together and that I really like! The background is using the jumbo wheel Whimsy and rolled in White Craft Ink and heat set just a bit to keep it from smearing. Next time I may emboss it to add just a bit more to it and really make the background pop.

Baby Shower Card

I wanted to share this card today that I received at a recent baby shower for me from a dear friend....(yes that is the explanation for my long absences from posting regularly. Stamping has definitely taken a back seat to many other things). I still stamp, just don't really get around to posting and uploading.

Anyways, back to this AMAZING card! Isn't it just the sweetest thing and I cannot believe the time it took to make this beautiful card. I will definitely be putting it in the new little one's scrapbook! There is so much dimension on it and I hope you can see the three layers in the lions' head and the elephants ear.
My friend said she enjoyed coming up with it and she did a fabulous job! I am just in awe of her creative talent in putting this together. Thanks Susan!
