Happy Heart Day

This was a fun little card to make. I paper pieced the elephant using the Flowers For You designer paper from SU. The basic technique is to stamp the image (in this case, I used the elephant from Happy Heart Day) onto designer paper and then cut it out and adhere it over the image on another piece of stamped cardstock. So it is really just an overlay. Very easy to do and in this case easier than coloring the image!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

The Color Challenge on SCS today was using the colors Blue Bayou, Soft Sky and Real Red. I was thinking somewhat of a patriotic/Americana theme and figured the retired stamp set Take Me Out to the Ballgame would be perfect.....(my *favorite* downline gave it to me a couple of years ago...she is so sweet!) I combined it with the backgrounds Print Pattern and Flannel Plaid and it works good enough. The hitter is actaully stamped on Soft Sky because either Whisper White or Very Vanilla was just too stark.

Another Sketch Challenge

I made this card for Beate's Sketch Challenge this weekend. When I was finished, I had no idea I had used so many things until I went to type in all of the details on SCS :) I don't have the Tres Chic BG, so I use the word stamp from Natural Beauty to make my own background. I used Black EP on the flower to make it stand out more before I colored it with reinkers. (The Staz On just wasn't bold enough for such a detailed flower..it is from the stamp set On Gossamer Wings, a retired set). I used three small Prima flowers, just didn't have three red ones so I had to settle for the yellow in the center. That is really the only thing I would defnitely change if I make it again. Have a great weekend!

Embrace Friendship

Sorry but just one more Embrace Life card. This time I used it for a Color Challenge and the Sketch Challenge on SCS. I have been trying to organize my stamping supplies and have stamped very little...I am totally consumed with finding a better way to organize my stamp stuff when I have the time and energy to do so. ;o)

The Color Challenge was to use the colors Rose Red, Apricot Appeal and Sage Shadow on a card. I wasn't really sure how it would go together, but I am pleased with the result. I used the background stamps Linen and En Francais as well. I wish SU hadn't retired the Linen BG, I find it so versatile to add texture to a card. The background on the top of the card (on the Rose Red) is a floral stamp from the Embrace Life stamp set. I used Bleach to take the color out of the flowers with my AquaPainter. I like the effect and will use the bleachign technique a lot. Why it took me so long to try it I don't know!

Well have a great evening and hopefully I will post again tomorrow if I can get around to stamping a bit.

Embrace Life

Yet another Embrace Life card. Can you tell this is currently my favorite stamp set? I will try to refrain from using it more, but I just love the Ginger Blossom designer paper that goes with it. I made this card after seeing a sketch challenge by Beate Johns on her blog Fresh and Fun that I wanted to try. I like the layout and can see using it again. Very simple, which I like! Well, I am off to get some things done today. Have a great weekend!

Time Well Spent

Time Well Spent is a stamp set that was given by Stampin' Up! to their demonstrators prior to Christmas. I finally got around to mounting it and thought I would try to make a quick little card using the Color Challenge on SCS for this week. The color combination was Barely Banana, Wild Wasabi and Blue Bayou. Quite a combination!

I added a brad (from a pack) I had picked up from the Dollar Bin area at Target about a year ago and also added some Stardust stickles to make the flower pop a bit more. I find it hard to believe the I didn't use either Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock, but that is okay! I just didn't feel like coloring in the big flower with a Barely Banana marker so cut the work in half by stamping it on the Barely Banana cardstock.

Oh So Lovely

I made this card using the retired Hostess stamp set Oh So Lovely (again using the colors that go so well with the Ginger Blossoms desginer paper). I wish I have bought some of the Groovy Guava double stitched ribbon, but until just recently it was not one of my favorite colors, so therefore I don't have any yet. ;o)))

Embrace Life

This is a new stamp set in the Spring/Summer catalog called Embrace Life. It has some beautiful floral images that are perfect to watercolor with either watercolor crayons or reinkers. I prefer the boldness of reinkers and that is what I did with this card. This stamp set has a matching background designer paper called Ginger Blossoms which is so beautiful. It is by far my favorite pack of designer paper that Stampin' Up has offered...I like to stamp over it with a script background stamp to add a bit more to to it. I used the background stamp En Francais....but the retired French Script would work just as well!

Happy Heart Day

This is another card I made using the Happy Heart Day stamp set. I like the colors Regal Rose and Green Galore together, just really cheery. I am not sure where the green ribbon came from, just a scrap I found in my ribbon box. The designer paper is just some paper I found at Michael's (Making Memories: Brooke Narr Stripe).

Happy New Year

Nothing like several months of not stamping much ;o) I did manage to stamp my Christmas cards and thank you notes this year so I wasn't completely out of it, just not as "addicted" as normal. However, stamping for Christmas has re-energized the creative juices, so I am back at it again. I did manage to do a few things over the several months hiatus, so I will share some of that in the coming days.

This is a card I made this afternoon using the new stamp set "Happy Heart Day." It is an awfully cute stamp set and has a lot of possibilities. I used the sketch challenge on SCS from this week as my layout so this is what I came up with. The designer paper is some retired Stampin' Up! paper from last year, I still have quite a bit of that leftover and hate to throw anything away. Any ideas on how to organize scraps? I could certainly use them!!!!
